Parent Information
Enrolment Policy:
Children need to be four years of age before
they can attend kindergarten and are entitled to up to four sessions
per week for up to four terms prior to starting school. It is
important that you check with your child's school the exact date
they will start to ensure your child begins kindergarten no more
than four terms before they start school.
Priority of Access:
When there are high numbers at the
kindergarten, it may become necessary for the centre to implement a
Priority of Access policy. At such times, the centre will offer places
to our local families first.
Curriculum:
Our curriculum is developed using the South Australian
Standards and Accountability (SACSA) framework and we focus on the Early
Years Band of the framework for programming, assessing and reporting.
All children attending kindergarten will have the opportunity to acquire
knowledge, skills and attitudes defined in each area of the SACSA
framework.
We believe that play is the vehicle through which children
learn best. Our timetable is set up with long blocks of uninterrupted
time to provide plenty of opportunities for children to be creative,
make choices, investigate, invent, explore, communicate, question,
socialise, imagine and through that they develop a confident personal
identity.
Staff Team:
The staff team comprises two full
time teachers and 1.5 early childhood workers. The staff look forward to
working alongside you and sharing in your child's preschool experience
and we hope your association with us is a happy one.
Governing Council:
Each year a group of
parents/caregivers is elected to work with the staff to ensure the
smooth running of the centre. The Governing Council discusses amongst
other things possible kindergarten functions, curriculum directions and
community needs.
Lastly, as staff, we know that kindergarten life should not only be fun for the children but parents too. We invite you to assist with kindergarten activities and share in your child's experiences. Together we can help to build a great foundation for your child's life.
